Children's day

Children's Day

“What does a magician’s hat, a 5 ft long veena, and a bunch of lovely people have in common?”

They were together to make an awesome Sunday for a batch of enthused kids!!

The day was pretty early when I reached the gates of Bala mandir center by 8:30am. No one was there and even the warden was away.  After a while, few more joined in, staring at the empty grounds of Bala mandir. We managed to finally meet BM’s warden by 9:15. She was surprised & happy when we told about our long-planned-Children’s-day-celebration. Still, she was a bit reluctant to have a song & music session, instead of the regular academic sessions and asked us to wait. Now we are standing here with our entire set of musical instruments, thinking how to convince her. Then looking at our bewildered faces, the warden reluctantly agreed for our mini-concert. “Keep it quiet”, she said.
When the clock ticked 10, the kids started pouring in. The vocal session took off to a great start. A great medley by Lakshmi & co was made even more entertaining by Harshan’s dance with the little kidsJ. What followed is a cool Magic show by Srinidhi. Then, a Veena recital by Sangeetha gave the event that little classical touch. Last but not least, we had almost all of our volunteers joining for an impromptu-skit about the importance of honesty.
What was planned for about half-an-hour had extended to about 2 hours and the kids looked all the more amused. It was not only a revelation for the kids but also to us, realizing how much talent our group of volunteers hasJ. At the End, All was Well, as Aamir Khan would say :-).
